I’ve never been a big fan of Blackstar amplifiers. Not because they’re bad, but because they don’t offer anything particularly unique. I find that’s the problem with many tube amplifiers; they all sound almost the same when you use the same speakers. It’s the speaker that makes the most significant difference in sound; otherwise, the amps sound more or less the same. However, what really impresses me about Blackstar is their modeling amplifiers. Especially the Silver Line series, which is just incredible. It sounds amazing whether I connect it to my Orange 2x12 cab or my JBL Partybox 310. I’m really looking forward to them updating this range. In the meantime, I bought the latest ID:Core 40 V4. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m sure it’s going to be fantastic with my JBL. Modeling really is the future. As long as you have good speakers, it sounds just as good, if not better, than a tube amp, all for a much lower price, much easier to transport, and with settings that can be adjusted via computer much more easily.

Great and pricey pedal. With any decent tube amp, the tone is easily attainable by using Xotic BB Preamp stacked with another transparent or mid-humped overdrive, but even used, those two pedals will cost about the same as this one, so maybe it's not that expensive. Either way, I consider anything above $200 to be overpriced. But that's what the prices today are.

Nothing goes "sput" like the pick attack in those Cunningham fuzz pedals. I'd really like to know what that is attributed to, but all of his circuits I've heard do that in way the others don't.

Well done Sasha. They all sounded great to be honest. I have a H&K Rotosphere, a Deja Vibe 2 pedal treading model, a Deja Vibe ( both made by Fulltone) , Lovepedal vibes / Hermida vibes and more I suppose, but use whatever you can afford. It’s a great sound period. The Rotosphere operates exactly like the original, but she’s a phat girl.

I have a new job now, and funny enough a new Marshall amp is on my mind. I won't say whcih model because I don't want anyone to buy it on Reverb haha. But I'm really interested in how a Marshall would sound in front of me. I've never seen a Marshall in Barbados, mainly Fender amps. I have a Laney LX12 combo (supposely 12 watts but the back panel says 20 watts RMS). I run a Joyo American Sound (Fender '57 Deluxe amp in box) through it and man does it sound good. I've been thinking about a Joyo British Sound as an alternative for the Marshall too, which is a Marshall in a box. Or even the Box Of Rock. You've shared a lot of content that I'm interested in. Sadly I know that by the time I've saved up enough money half of these pedals you've demoed will be out of production. Quite interested in stuff like this, but the prices make me think twice. I'll have to work my way up. Currently contemplating: Marshall amp, Marshall in box pedal or new audio interface. I really don't need a new amp, but a Marshall for live settings will give me the ultimate ego boost lol!

Your core tone is still my favorite Strat sound Ive ever heard. I've gotta assume that the Silktone amp has a tremendous amount to do with that...

I have always liked the Bluesbreaker circuit and Browne has lifted that circuit to the best of the best. This is without compare the best drive I have ever had, "Sasha" switch up! I seriously doubt if the Protein or even King of Tone can outdo this, maybe similar (in quality and fidelity) but the tweaks Browne has done on this pedal have just improved the Bluesbreaker circuits and improved the combination of them to just legendary status. These sides are not the same and also not the Carbon single pedal so stop the comparisons! Sasha's playing continues to improve, even Buddy Blues on this pedal shows some real skill and tone!

I'm still kind of struggling with it. The problem is I love the dirt channel on my amp but wanted something different for some variety. When I use the DS-1 through the dirt it just doesn't sound as good as the dirt by itself. Yes it's different, but just not as good. I have to try it in the clean channel next and see if that's any better for me. If not, back it goes.

oof. i was all set to get a Browne Carbon X (used to have a Protein), but this sounds really good. i need to hear more demos from people that play worse than Sasha so i can judge more accurately. :)

I think i heard if you hold down one of the buttons the Volume, Gain and ISF become the bass, middle and treble ?

I ordered a Behringer Hellbabe last month. I needed a new wah. Had $300 US to burn because my mother and I sold all 7 of our Black-bellied sheep. I'm not silly enough to spend all that money on a pedal, of course I bought food lol! The wah costed $70+ US and was the very last one on Reverb. I still have an Original Crybaby Wah that I intend to use. The reason why I want two wahs on my board is quite simple. The potentiometer for the Crybaby is faulty. It's one of those blue ones, not the stock pot. It has a harsh, glitchy effect when engaged, which works well for fuzz/distortion tones, especially Octave fuzz (check out the solo for my song 'Magick Key' you'll hear exactly what I'm talking about). However, that altered effect sounds unpleasant and scratchy for clean tones. That's why I bought a Behringer Hellbabe, simply for the clean tones! I call the Crybaby 'The Chaos Wah' haha.

Just found one of these for a reasonable price... gonna start saving!

After all these years and MANY other pickups, I finally got this one for my main acoustic steel string guitar. I first tested it with the cable hanging outside and it became clear quickly that this is a keeper. Installation was going alright for me, the worst part for me was tucking away the rolled up and bound cable nest and still keep it removable if need be, but I figured out a good way where it doesn’t make any noises in the guitar and stays put well enough. I’m very excited to play out with this awesome pickup!

What next, another Tube Screamer/Mid boost? Just remember, it wasn’t consumers who crashed the pedal market.
